Andrew Halford (1953- ) trained with Shigeo Shiga in his Sydney workshop at Terrey Hills from 1968-69 and with Les Blakebrough at the Sturt Pottery, Mittagong, from 1971-72. After working for two years in the Sydney commercial pottery Florenz, he spent an extensive period in Japan under two masters: Shimoaka Tutsuzo from 1973-75 and Shimada Haruo from 1975-78. In 1979 he returned to Australia and took over Shiga's workshop. He is still making and selling pottery, with work exhibited at Skepsi and Freeland galleries in recent years.
