Jan Twyerould studied part- time at the Caulfied Institute of Technology, Melbourne, before moving to Adelaide in 1974 and setting up a studio in Seven Hills. From 1980-1982, she was a resident at the Jam Factory workshops. In 1982, she set up a new studio at her home in Stepney where she is still based. She is a member of the Potters' Guild of SA and curated the South Australian Ceramic Award in 2005. Her work features thrown tableware and one-off porcelain pieces with carved, airbrushed and inlaid decoration. A trademark series of sunset-inspired pieces comes from camping in the Australian and New Zealand bush. She has entries in the 1981-1996 potters' directories. She signs her work with an impressed 'JT' or an incised 'Jan Twyerould'.
