Errol Barnes (1941-) started working full time as a potter in 1965 with an art school background and wide experience in art and ceramics teaching. He worked mostly alone in Brisbane for ten years before establishing the Lyrebird Ridge Pottery at Springbrook, QLD, in 1976. Trainees at the pottery included Michaela Kloeckner (1982-1983), Anthony Brink (1985), David Usher (1987-1990) and Cameron Williams. He has entries in the 1981 and 1985 potters directories and also wrote an article in Pottery in Australia, 22 (1986), pp. 32-35 about a trip to the United States with Jon Durand of Beech Mountain Pottery to look at new models for producing and marketing pottery.
