Oien, Larry

Canadian-born Larry Oien (1945- ) trained in Sydney at the Doulton Australia Studio in Chatswood from 1972-1975. In 1979, he established a studio in Hahndorf, South Australia, making a range of wheel- thrown functional wares. For a number of years he operated the Zebra Gallery at Hahndorf, and also ran a Bed and Breakfast business. He has now retired from pottery and spends six months of the year in Thailand. His works are impressed with an elaborate 'LO' and may also be signed 'Larry Oien' in oxide.
