Sophie Thomas (1966- ) is a Melbourne potter who makes wheel-thrown and altered forms coloured with slips and carved back to create intricate patterns. She began studying ceramics at RMIT in 1995 and spent time as an artist-in-residence at the Meat Market in 1998. In a November 2007 Pottery in Australia article (46/3:86-90) she was sharing space at the Danaher Lane Studios in North Melbourne, while also holding a full-time job in retail. She does not sign her work, depending on the individuality of her style for identification.
