Peter Wallace became interested in pottery at high school in Bathurst and Broken Hill, where he received encouragement from the painter Pro Hart to pursue a career as a potter. He set up the Packing Shed Pottery in Bathurst, in 1978, then five years' later moved to Queensland where he spent time at the Carl McConnell Pottery and was a thrower at the Beechmont Pottery before setting up on his own again, first at Nerang (1984-1994) and then Beechmont (1994-). He currently specialises in large pieces, including fountains, decorated with crystalline or copper red glazes. He incises his work 'Peter'.
