Sandra Bowkett completed a Diploma of Art and Design in Ceramics at Caulfield Institute of Technology (now Monash University) in 1977 and a Graduate Diploma of Education at Melbourne State College in 1980. She is currently based at Tallarook in rural Victoria, where she makes thrown mid-fired tableware and wearable porcelain pieces decorated with coloured slips and decals. Recently, she has also started making handbuilt forms, some with earth pigment decoration. She sells her works through a number of retail outlets Australia-wide, and through solo and group exhibitions. She has also been involved in a number of cross-cultural projects, in the Kimberleys in Western Australia in the 1990s and, more recently, in India. She signs her work 'Sbowkett' or 'Sandra Bowkett'.
