John Eagle (1942- ) completed a Diploma of Fine Art (Ceramics) at RMIT in 1976. While still a student he was selected for inclusion in Craft Victoria '75 at the National Gallery of Victoria. After graduating, he taught briefly then established a studio at Linton, Victoria, and became a full-time potter, earning 'Craft Mark' accreditation for his work. In 1988, he was awarded the Australian Bicentennial Art-Craft Award for Functional Pottery. In January 2007, he relocated from Linton to Ararat where he now lives and works. He has entries in the 1990 and 1996 directories, and was one of the artists represented in Skepsi's 'Celebrating the Master' exhibition in 2004. His mark is a distinctive painted signature consisting of just four strokes.
