Amanda Warner (Amanda Hawthorn) completed a ceramics certificate and post certificate at East Sydney Technical College in 1982. The following year she and John Hawthorn established Blackwattle Pottery at Pyrmont, NSW. The studio was relocated to Glossodia, NSW, in 1985, then to Denham Court, NSW in 1996. In 1988, Warner completed a Diploma of Teaching at the Institute of Technical and Adult Teacher Education (now part of UTS, Sydney) and has since taught in various NSW vocational colleges. She is currently head of ceramics and fine art at the Campbelltown College. She specialises in smoked lustre glazes. Works may be incised 'Amanda Warner'.
