Zsolt Faludi was born in Hungary and trained as a studio potter there under the master potter Janos Dougar. Migrating to Australia in 1984, he completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at the Tasmanian State Institute of Technology in 1988 and was one of the founding members of Ceramic 5 Studio (now the Tin Shed Pottery) in Inveresk. Wanting to extend his practice beyond production pottery, he completed a Master of Fine Art at the University of Tasmania in Hobart in 1996. He is currently working on his Ph.D. at the School of Visual and Performing Arts, Launceston where he is also head of the ceramics department. His works are marked with an incised 'ZF'.
