Giuseppe Raneri (1959- ) currently works at the Bolin Bolin Gallery at Bulleen Art & Garden where one of his tile murals decorates the entrance. He was born in Italy but migrated to Australia at the age of five. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramic Design in 1982, then undertook a residency at the Meat market Craft Centre and travelled extensively overseas before setting up his own studio in Fitzroy from 1988-1997. His work includes colourful hand-painted tableware - including a range designed for major Australian department stores - and figurative sculptural forms. In 1994, a piece was accepted for the Colin and Cecily Rigg Craft Award at the National Gallery of Victoria, and he also had pieces accepted for the Sidney Myer Fund International Ceramic Award in 1998 and 2004. From 2000-2001, he lectured at Victorian College of the Arts. His mark is a painted 'Raneri'.
