Robert Knighton began working full-time as a potter in 1990 after changing from a career as an industrial chemist and training at Melbourne's Outer Eastern TAFE. He specialises in stoneware functional forms using a range of classical glazes, including tenmoku, chun and copper red. In the 1996 potters' directory he is based at Warrandyte but he has since moved to Belgrave and has branched out into sculpture, raku and terre vernisée earthenware. His work is marked with an impressed 'SP' for Scatterbrook Pottery and/or a cursive 'RK'.
