Kyong Hee Kim is a Korean potter based in Coorabell, NSW, near Byron Bay. Formerly coordinator of design projects for the textile division of Samsung Corporation in Seoul, she went to Italy in 1993 to learn Italian and ended up studying ceramics at Faenza. Travelling to Australia in 1997, she attended the National Art School in Sydney for one semester before becoming a resident potter at the Sturt Workshops in Mittagong from 1998-2001. During this time, she met and married the potter Don Court and settled at nearby Colo Vale, working for a time under the name Kyong Hee Kim-Court. Her work is informed by her Korean background, her work as a textile designer and her initial training in maiolica. Work may be marked with an incised 'Kim'.
