Jock Shimeld
Jock (Hugh) Shimeld completed a Bachelor of Industrial Arts at the University of New South Wales under Ivan McMeekin, then spent a year at the Sturt Pottery in Mittagong under Les Blakeborough. He went on to establish his own workshops at Mullumbimby (where he is based in the 1977 directory), Katoomba and at Glenning Valley on the Central Coast of NSW. He has also worked in the UK and spent two years in the early 1980s at the Tiwi Pottery on Bathurst Island, NT. At first he was a wood firer but later used gas and electric kilns.Work may be marked with an impressed 'JS' or 'Jock Shimeld Glenning Valley'.
