Brian Gartside (1940- ) is a New Zealand studio potter and educator who lives and works in Pukekohe, a town in the Auckland Region of the North Island. He was born in Chorley, Lancashire, England but emigrated to New Zealand in 1970 to take up a teaching position in Auckland. In the mid-1990s, he conducted a number of workshops in Australia and his work, which features intensely coloured surfaces, may also be found in Australian collections. The mark recorded in New Zealand Potters' Marks is 'BG' - the B inside the G. Earlier work may also be impressed 'bg Ramarama NZ'.
