Before becoming a potter, Judy Barrett (1927- ) completed a Masters in Biochemistry at the University of Sydney in 1949 and went on to study for a PhD at Redding University in the UK. She took up pottery in 1967 after visiting the US on a sabbatical with her husband. Based at Turramurra, NSW, in the 1973 directory, she had moved to Matcham by 1977 where she still lives and works. Her mark is recorded in the 1977 and 1986 directories as an impressed 'JHB'.
