David Pedler is a South Australian potter who graduated from Underdale College of Advanced Education in 1987. He met his partner, glassmaker Meg Caslake, at the JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design Centre. They have a hot glass studio in Uraidla in the Adelaide Hills and a ceramic studio in Moonta. Pedler uses slipcasting, jiggering and ram pressing to make precise functional forms decorated with slips and clear glaze or coloured glazes. Working in reasonably high volumes enables him to supply tableware to local restaurants. He also paints whimsical pictures in oil and resin on panel. In 2011, he became Ceramics Program Manager at the JamFactory. Work seen so far is signed 'David Pedler' in ceramic crayon. His mother Barbara Pedler is also a potter.
