Gary Palecek was born in Canada and worked as a potter in Canada and Japan before coming to Australia. He has an entry with Fran Ifould In the 1981 directory. In 1981, they were based at the Potters' Wheel in Neutral Bay, NSW, but by the time the directory was published, they had already moved to Braidwood, NSW, where they ran the Tallaganda Pottery from 1980-1997. Palecek then moved to Canberra where he still lives and works, teaching at the Canberra Potters' Society and specialising in Horse Hair Raku. Work made at the Tallaganda Pottery is impressed 'Tallaganda' and Palacek's personal mark is an incised 'GP'.
