Bendigo Pottery
Bendigo Pottery is Australia's oldest working pottery. It started operation in 1857 and is now a National Trust property and heritage tourist attraction with its own website. Its history is documented in Paul A. Scholes, Bendigo Pottery (Kilmore: Lowden, 1979). After a low ebb in the 1950s and 1960s, when its main products were sewerage pipes and roofing tiles, the production of salt-glazed Epsom ware was revived in 1968 by Bill Derham. During this period, each thrower added his initials to the centre of the Bendigo Pottery Epsom stamp.
