Lidded white stoneware box of rectangular form, glazed white inside and stained on the outside in shades of buff, pink and pale green. It stands on four folded feet and the lid is domed with handle, locking rods and finials. The whole is textured in horizontal bands with carved diagonal lines.
Signed on base in crayon 'S Benwell' and dating from the 1980s.
Stephen Benwell says that this is not his work.
There are some minor shallow chips on the lid and one of the feet has been reglued; otherwise in good condition.
18.5 cm high to the top of the handle, 21 cm long and 11.5 cm wide.
